
Iriney (Orda Kharisim Michael) (1837—1904)
Right Reverend Iriney (Orda Kharisim Michael) was born in 1837 in Poltava province, villge Samovicya in the priest family. After theological seminary Iriney finished in 1861 Kiev Spiritual academy. After the academy he was appointed as a teacher in Spiritual seminary in Ekaterinoslavsk. On April 26, 1864 Iriney got a master degree in theology of Kiev spiritual seminaries were he held a Holy Writ course. In 1877 Iriney became a priest and was appointed a catechist in the 3rd gymnasium in Kiev. 1880 – he became archpriest of Kiev Podol churches. August 4, 1883 – Iriney became a monk and got a position of rector in Kiev spiritual seminary and also became a member of Kiev eparchial council.
1888 — became a bishop of Uman’ region.
1890 — became a bishop of Chygyrun’ region.
1892 — became a bishop of Mogylev and Mstuslav region.
1893 — became a bishop of tula and Belev
1896 — became a bishop of Podol and Bratslav
1900 — became a bishop of Ekaterenburg ans Irbitsk
1902 — became a bishop of Orel and Sev
In 1898 Iriney became an honorable member of Kazan’ spiritual academy. His book "A guide to reading of prophetical books of Old Testament” was awarded with Makariy Prize.
Diocesan Iriney was a terrific teacher, he spoke few languages, was good translator and a writer. He was an editor in a few magazines such as "Sunday sermon” and "Aguide for villge priests” were he made a lot of articles. Thanks to his efforts appeared a magazine "Parish school”. In "Kiev academic magazine” Diocesan Iriney was the head of foreign bibliography department.
Diocesan Iriney was concerned about the spiritual values revival, about the church development and a supporter of Christianity and was a member of "pureous life organization”. He took care of the church schools development; always remember about charity and missionary work. Iriney loved greatly church chorale songs and organized in Kamyanez- Podilsk a special chorale school.
Diocesan Iriney died in April 10, 1904.
