Mesevrya Pavlo Aggeyovych was born in the village Samovytsa in about 1890. They say he managed to find a mysterious fern blossom that, according to the legends, gives great mysterious might. He did his military crevice in the Tsar army. Later, together with his fellow villager Korobka Logvyn Gryhoryivych, participated in the World War I. Being a corporal, he was a commander of the reconnaissance platoon. He was very brave man. Many times he participated personally in reconnaissance operations and always successful. He was wounded many times. For his courage he was rewarded with 3 Crosses of St. George – the highest reward for "undaunted courage" for soldiers and corporals.
After the World War I he came back to his native village. During the Civil Was he was the head of the assault detachment made of local villagers. The detachment took away all the goods from the reach people near Cherkassy. A part of the goods he gave to the poor. All his life he fought against the Soviet dominion. In 1920 in winter he drowned few Soviet soldiers (who lived in the Kostenko Odarka Semenyvna house) in the lake.
In 1921 a punitive company came from Zolotonosha. The company managed to destroy the local villager’s detachment in about 3 kilometers south near Somovytsa. It was called a "Gayenko detachment” by that time. The body of the leader was taken to the village Somovytsa and showed to the villagers as a lesson.
